The Atlantic Museum is the first underwater museum of the Atlantic Ocean and Europe. It is located about 300 m from Marina Rubicon on the beach of Las Coloradas. It is conceived as a place for the preservation, conservation and education of the marine environment and nature.
The Atlantic Museum (Museo Atlántico) is the first underwater museum of the Atlantic Ocean and Europe. It is located about 300 m from Marina Rubicon on the beach of Las Coloradas. It is conceived as a place for the preservation, conservation and education of the marine environment and nature. The project of the artist, Jason de Caires Taylor, whose workshop was already inside Marina Rubicon while the sculptures were being created, aims to create an artificial reef, formed by a set of sculptures made of concrete. Since the first figures were placed, the marine biomass began to increase, facilitating the reproduction of the island's species.
The sculptures are located at a depth of about 12 m and cover an area of 2500 m². It is an accessible site for divers and snorkelers.
